MRI of the Temporo-Mandibular Joints.
MRI is very useful in determining disease of the TMJ's. Images presented in this study demonstrate the mandibular condyles, their fossae and the associated joint discs.
Similar to the Radiographic imaging of the the patient's TMJ's with the mouth in the open and close position, MRI reveals much more information about the integrity of the joint discs which cannot be appreciated on radiographs.
